Body Lava and the Kubucki brush is one of the most hottest product that I need to have. With summer on the way I think this Fenty makeup product will most certainly help me look vibrant, young and fresh.

NYT Article Reflection
"Years before agreeing to work on a fashion brand, Rihanna said, she had been slowly evolving in the fashion world." I admire the fact that Rihanna respects the business of Fashion Design enough to have spent years observing and learning the business. There are so many music artist who decide to brand themselves as Fashion Designers without knowing ANYTHING about the business.

I love how she says that she learns from her mom and people she meets, and she takes into account of all of those experiences and creates looks/techniques of her own that best fits her.

Article Reflection
"She’s keenly aware that her new venture may bring failures, but said you should always be willing to learn the lesson. 'How you gonna learn without making mistakes?' she said."

I relate to this mainly because I always want something a certain way, especially when it deals with something that's going to help me move forward in my career. So, if I don't make any mistakes, how would I know that some time in the future I could benefit from the past. This has happened to me multiple times, and has led me to learn many lessons, helping myself and others in the future.

video feedback : i actually watched this before we were assigned this and i found it really interesting and fun. i like how she points out how sometimes we know certain parts of our faces best like how she HAS to do her own eyebrows because i always felt like this with certain things like i had to do them myself because i know how to do it best for myself , and i just think its a really important thing to be pointed out. also all the products she used were so pretty. article feedback: "“Never a failure. Always a lesson.” i feel like this quote relates to my life best because i like to try to look at mistakes or even just bad things as lessons and things to grow from , and i feel like its important for everyone to not sit and dwell and build up negative feelings about something you cant change, we have to try to tell ourselves it is what it is , now i know now and now im stronger ,in life theres blessings and lessons .

Video Feedback;
I really love how Rihanna's personality cane through in that video and how she shows off her products to potential consumer. I personally lover her makeup brand, i'm a hardcore stannn and i live for Fenty Beauty.

Article Feedback;
“I’m very hands-on, so I wanted to take it slowly and gain respect as a designer,” she said.

I tottally agree with Rihanna and see her point if view on this because when you enter something new, for example o
in this case an industry, you wanna take it slow at first to see how it works out and to see if people will like what you our out or not. You wanna gain respect first from the consumers and then go full throttle.
Making mistakes is an opportunity to grow and learn Amy. I totally agree.
After watching the video I want to get all her products. I agree they were all so pretty :)
Fashion Design is a hands on business and I am glad Rihanna understands that. Thanks for pointing that out Juann

I like how Rihanna showed her personality and feels very confident about herself.

“How you gonna learn without making mistakes?” she said.
I agree with this quote because it is true. life is about learning and a positive way too see your failures is to see them as a learning experience

Video Feedback:
What i like about the 10 min makeup guide is that she tells simple tips on how to do your makeup and especially for beginners, she doesn't go too heavy on her face she show people how to go natural but still look good. Rihanna points out that everyone is different not everyone is going to have the same face structure to pull off the same type of makeup design.

Article Feedback:
“Those factors do come into play, but I will not apologize for them, and I will not back down from being a woman, from being black, from having an opinion,” she said

I agree with her back some females done really get respect nor being knowledge about what they do and women also have a tendency to always apologize for things that they do, you should never apologize for trying to have respect

"Rihanna said, she had been slowly evolving in the fashion world". I like how she states the speed of evolving process of the fashion world, there are others who evolves faster but better when slow. When wanting part of the fashion world sometimes it's best to observe all the many opportunities and options you have, Rihanna has been observing.

Video feedback:
I really loved this blog. Rihanna is such an inspirational person. I love how she finds inspiration & turn it into something much bigger, that’s really creative.
Article feedback:
I think Rihanna is just such a dope person in all. I love her style & how she can change things up. In the article she says “don’t be afraid to fail” I think this is a really good piece of information because she flourished in different aspects of her career. I definitely would take this advice!

Rihanna has always been a role model to me because she just started out as a young girl from a small island, one of my favorite quotes from the article is “Those factors do come into play, but I will not apologize for them, and I will not back down from being a woman, from being black, from having an opinion,”. I admire this quote because she is unapologetically herself and has built her empire on being her authentic self. I also love the fact that she is so hands on her brand and doesn't just put her name on any product because she is a celebrity.

video feedback:
I've actually watched this video before the it was assigned. I like how she can do her makeup on 10 mins but cant also take like 10 hours if she wants. it very important for people in the industry to nor only know how to do their makeup, but also know how to do it quickly. sometimes you won't have a makeup artist or sometimes you might not like what they did and you have to fix it.

article feedback:
“How you gonna learn without making mistakes?” she said. i feel like people are always trying to be prefect and you cant grow that way. you grow from mistakes and failures not from being prefect. i like how she points out that its okay to fail and doesn't suggest being prefect is what you have to be. i always try to admit my mistakes and learn from them so i not only grow as a person but i also grow educationally.

i agree that it was cool and clever how she shows her products off to potential consumers so its like a subtle plug and makes you want to buy them more because you see her use them. great and smart marketing move
Anonymous said…
I agree with you Amy. When i am doing something like a project i need it to be perfect, but i also know that if i don't make some mistakes i cant learn and grow from the project.
Great analysis! That is a smart business move

I agree with what Tatiana said about we cant let other people tell us whats best for us because we are the only ones that knows what is best for ourselves

I agree with Tatiana although everyone see's Rihanna as a successful business woman, but like everyone else she has gone through her own "failures" that have taught her how to better and has made her smarter and stronger.

I agree with Chelsea.A because in the makeup industry, or commercial industry in general, your most likely paying for the name of something than the actual product. So by not putting her name to her line, she knows people are buying the product for its quality and not because shes a celebrity. Like many celebrities have makeup lines but the quality is horrible because they don't put any effort to their products, they just think about the fame and money attached, so i admire that Rihanna puts her quality ahead of her fame.

I love Rihanna and I admire how she is such a powerful and down to earth person. Rihanna has a perfect balance between humanity and confidence. I also follow the same makeup routine as Rihanna and I highly recommend her foundation and concealer.

“I’m very hands-on, so I wanted to take it slowly and gain respect as a designer,” she said.

This quote really stood out to me because I’m starting my own lash business and Just as Rihanna I’m a hands on person. I like to see everything laid out. This quote shows me, if I want my business to successfully succeed, I have to take things slow. I tend to rush and put it out to the world even if it’s not prefect and Rihanna made me realize, I need to take things slow and earn my respect, especially from my parents and friends.

I go through the same problems as you, Amy, but it’s true what ms David said mistakes is what makes a person. You wouldn’t think a powerful women like Rihanna makes mistakes but she does. That’s what makes her Rihanna.

Video feedback: I love the highlighter she uses, i definitely will be buying that for the summer. I also love how confident she is, the way she presents herself in a very respectful manner, is something many girls should look up to.

Article reflection: "Even if you've never designed something in your life, you might have impeccable taste: I’m welcoming everyone’s vision here, because that’s what it’s gonna take. I can’t just think I know everything." i think this is a very important business aspect. In order to appeal to a certain audience you must connect with them, understand what they do and don't like. A lot of celebrities that start their own business, disregard their audiences desires and take offence when given constructive criticism. Rihanna takes her business very seriously and listens to the constructive criticism.
Gianna Martinez said…
I agree with you Chelsea, a lot of small businesses give up when they don't notice immediate growth. They have to accept their failures and move foward.

Video feedback I liked how Rihanna was saying in the video was that at times you have to be your own teacher to find out how you like to do things in a certain way. Like with Makeup you may see or think that they look the same but in reality people do it in a unique way because everyIn is different in their own way so it’s up to you how you wanna do your own makeup in a certain way you don’t always have to watch the videos to really know how to do makeup it’s just whatever works best for you and for your face.

Article feed back I like how Rihanna stayed that “Never a failure. Always a lesson.” Because I feel like people always then to push mistakes and failures in there life to always be a bad thing when it reality it kinda makes who you are today bc you learned from those mistakes and failures and became a better version of your self from that. It’s a lesson in life to overcome and just make you wanna do better and too not settle for less.

Video Feedback:
I appreciate Rihanna for her mindset and how she is as a person overall. She’s one of the icons in people’s lives like Paris Hilton or BeyoncĂ©, people in the realm of being known for a long, long time. She has made an empire for herself— her music career flourishes, perhaps not equally as her makeup and clothing line but Rihanna is doing a great job at expanding her horizons. I love that she wants to bring something real and authentic to the table. When her makeup line first launched, she had an initial distribution of 40 foundations to offer to the public. Rihanna gave other brands a complete run for their money. She understood that there was STILL a lack of shade range for people of color, went to make her own makeup line, doing the above and beyond for her audience. Not only is it 40 shades, an amount that some 10+ year brands STILL don’t have overall, it is an incredibly in-depth range. It isn’t one sided or a show for attention. Rihanna knows how to wear her own products and understand each individual item completely. It’s obvious that she’s there from when the item is an idea on paper to it being in physical final packaging.

Article Feedback:
I had already gotten the impression that Rihanna was very hands-on even without personally knowing her. Seeing her “boss” behavior is both beneficial to understand how to very vaguely run a business or go about it, but it is inspiring on the normal everyday life of women. Women are mostly expected to be docile, (not as much in present day) like sheep, taking after orders and being submissive. People like Rihanna were staples for the foundation of women breaking free of norms. A female boss, a boss just as good as any other male businessman. Especially when she stated “Never a failure. Always a lesson.” Yes, there is always room for mistakes— but those mistakes aren’t failures. Rather, they are always something you can get taught from so it never happens again. It is admirable to think in that way, not disregarding failure completely but not taking it to heart so that it damages your dreams.

She did amazing with her designs and she’s determined in her work I appreciate Rihanna for her mindset and how she is as a person overall. I love the fact that Rihanna is so inspiring. You can see that she gave a lot of customers because if you an see she gain a lot of customers because she is intelligent. Not Only about lighter people she also thinks about darker people which is great because they don’t have darker people foundation sometimes. I love the fact that her condition is really good with our ordered one two days ago and it will actually arrive today.I love the fact that she never came up On her music and she always comes out with you things like clothing line , her make up and also more things that will be coming soon. Rihanna also knows how to wear her products which is very important.im glad she learn from her mom because her foundation makes people faces so clear and pop out more.

Rihanna is also making a name for herself in the realm of beauty and fashion. She entered a new lien luxury fashion. Rihanna was really a popular but she really improved On herself and really was making big things. she agreed to work on a fashion brand . she had been slowly and Building up in the fashion world she was the first customer to . I love the fact that she Not only Think about herself but others. In the article she mentioned never a failure, always a lesson. Like the fact that she said that because yes do not give up on your self, you can also learn from your mistakes and it’s going to make you do better like what she did, she’s doing great honestly.

Ive seen the same video when it was first released and I love to see how far she’s come and how her career included so much more than music.she also has lingerie and loungewear which is inspiring to see. One main quote that stood out in the article is when she said “Never a Failure. Always a lesson.” She is saying to stay persistent in whatever interest you and is a goal to you. Although there are many setbacks along the way or it doesn’t always go the best the first time, there is still another chance if you really put your mind to it you can even make it way beyond your goal. So to see her do that is amazing since she has been an inspiration and a role model to me and many other people

I agree when she said "How you gonna learn without making mistakes?" because you're going to make mistakes in life, no one is perfect but with mistakes you learn and you become a better person and you become better at things. When she said "Never a failure. Always a lesson." I think this is important for everyone to know and everyone should hear this because your going to fail at some point and it's just going to teach you a lesson and make you try harder and do better next time.
Shanila Stanley said…
I think it's interesting how Rihanna does her make up and that she does it herself because I believed that since she's a celebrity she has a person makeup artist to do it for her. But seeing her do it for herself and talk about what she likes to experiment with when it comes to her own makeup really shows that she's human just like anyone else. It also shows that there's not only one type of way to do make up; you can do as much or as little as possible.

Video Response:
In the video something that stuck with me is how Rhianna said that you have to learn you. I agree with her statement not only in Makeup but it also goes for everything in life. You're always going to know you better than others, and its important to stay true to you and what you know. It's also important to be present and alert to learning new techniques from those around you.
In the article, "Rhianna How to Be a Boss" she elaborates on her as woman and what she brings to the table. She states, " Those factors do come into play, but I will not apologize for them, and I will not back down from being a woman, from being black, from having an opinion,” she said. Her job is to run the company. “I do know that the reason I’m here is not because I’m black,” she said. “It’s because of what I have to offer.” She is stating how she knows her worth in the industry and how being genuine to herself and her brand is always going to be what she is going to do.
